:)Hi my 4 yr old had a great time at her first show. But could I make 1 suggestion when they are in the ring could they have a trot around and when they are lined up maybe could they do a small show ie walk away from judge and trot around ring to get back in line nothing spectacular just so they get an idea of what showing is all about it a good start for them. Apart from that had a good day and she wants to come again.

Good venue, easy to find and level access. Great atmosphere with lots of happy kids sporting rosettes. Shows like these ane an essential starting ground for young competitors, and for others with just the family pet, it is a chance to have fun with your hourse/pony and win a ribbon for the bedroom wall as well. As a moderately successful ex-Show Jumper of 22yrs standing, and following that career I showed Arabs and Show Cobs with, luckily, quite some success. I had the honor of judging them at our local show when I was in Wales, and it was always rewarding to see the 'less than perfect' mount, looking happy and well cared for, with a shining coat and proud owner, get into the ribbons. As I always thought that he was loved just as much (and possibly more in some cases) as the beautiful showstopper, or brilliant jumping athlete. But in an affiliated show this well loved favorite would be confined to the bottom ranks and disappointment. So I believe that shows like yours are so very important to support. A great many of these small shows have folded due to the huge amount of committment, time, and money required to organise these events. And although I do live quite a long way away, you can always call on me fill in, if you need a judge in an emergency. Finally, I take my hat off to Justine and the organisers for all their hard work, and hope that the all shows continue to be as successful as this last one. See you all tomorrow!

Well, following the stormy and decidely wet abandoned show on 19 July, we turned up the following Sunday, which was the posponed date. The rain mostly held off, despite threatening all day, but sadly the competitors did also. Mainly for two reasons I believe.
Firstly, posponed shows always run with reduced numbers, as competitors have usually planned for the original show date, and can then be consequently unavailable on the posponed date. Secondly, this posponed show date unfortunately clashed with another very similar show in the area.
So numbers were down, but having said that the welcome was just as warm, and the competitors were friendly. It was also nice to see the dog ring doing well too, and lots of happy pooches sported rosettes.
I even heard a rumour that the organisers are looking at maybe trying a 'newcomers' novice dressage event. That would be not only interesting, but also help with the schooling of your horse/pony. It will depend, I suppose on the amount of interest, so we'll have to wait and see! So it just remains to say a BIG thank you to the organisers, for giving their time and efforts to us, so we could have fun.

Just a quick update on Tina, the handler of the miniature pony Royal Toy, who got knocked by him on Saturday's show, and taken to RUH.
Shes fine, no broken bones, cracked ribs, or any other underlying problems. She has a bruise, and hurt pride, but nothing else!
I'd also like to thank the organisers for their prompt actions, and the concern for her welfare. She's fine now, thanks everyone, and says that she is looking forward to seeing everybody at the Championship Show.
